Bridging the Gap

Bridging THE Gap” stands as an initiative launched by MVP on May 14, 2022, at 2 pm. The inaugural gathering took place at a community center owned by our brethren in the Bangladesh community. The primary objective of this meeting was to foster unity and productivity among individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and professions.

Recognizing the potential for collective action in addressing issues such as violence reduction and enhancing the quality of life in our community, MVP believed that a unified effort could yield more impactful results. The initial steps involved understanding each other’s similarities and differences, compiling a list of challenges and corresponding solutions, and identifying the strengths each participant brought to the table.

Currently, our focus is on strategic planning, in collaboration with the Collaborative Center for Social Innovation. In the realm of community service, our belief is that irrespective of one’s color, financial status, or educational background, we are all equal contributors. The common goal is to diminish violence and improve the quality of life for our families. The conviction is that together, collective efforts can achieve more than individual endeavors.

Over the past two years, we have collaborated with over 75 different groups, businesses, organizations, and individuals. Following a period of reflection and community healing after a tragic incident, we have resumed our commitment to this initiative. While the healing process continues, we have regained momentum, moving forward and making tangible progress.

Our meetings have been held at prominent locations such as the Gloria J Parks Building, Villa Maria College, Canisius College, and the Bangladesh-owned community building on Alexander. The forthcoming meeting is scheduled at the United Way building on Delaware. Our aim is to convene in different sectors of the city, ensuring inclusivity and productivity in our collective efforts.
