🌟 MVP + United Way Day of Caring: “Survivor”-Style Decision Challenge

On June 25, 2025, MVP partnered with United Way of Buffalo & Erie County during the annual Day of Caring—the region’s largest volunteer event where over 2,000 community members mobilize for local nonprofits the-wellhouse.org, 2volunteerwny.org, 2mentorinternational.org & 2uwbec.org. We designed a powerful, interactive experience for youth that brought decision-making to life.

šŸŽÆ Purpose & Inspiration

We wanted kids to see how one small decision can shift life’s course—for better or worse. Taking a cue from the popular show Survivor, we crafted an obstacle-course‑style program filled with meaningful choices.

šŸ—ŗļø How It Worked

Participants started by answering a prompt. Their response determined which path they’d follow through the building. Each path led through 10 engaging stations, both indoors and outdoors.

At each station, youth encountered a trifecta of learning:

  1. Decision-Based Question – A scenario or prompt that sparked reflection
  2. Hands-On Challenge – An activity that tested teamwork, focus, or creativity
  3. Positive Mantra – A short phrase to reinforce thoughtful, proactive decision-making

šŸ’” Planting Seeds of Thoughtful Choices

Each station was more than just fun—it illustrated the ripple effect of choices. By tying real-life scenarios to interactive challenges and mantras, we connected playful experiences with deeper, lasting takeaways about decision-making.

šŸ“ˆ Impact & Reflection

  • Empowerment: Youth took ownership of their path based on answers they trusted
  • Introspection: Each question prompted participants to think critically
  • Encouragement: The mantras planted positive, repeatable messages

By blending choice, challenge, and reflection, we gave youth a hands-on lesson in responsibility—and showed how every decision, no matter how small, matters.
